The Organization of Black
Airline Pilots (OBAP) is a 501
(c) 3 organization founded in
1976. We have Full (Airline
Pilots), Associate (Non-Airline
Pilots), and Student members
who share our goals. More than
3,500 individuals are members
of our organization.
Delta Air Lines and the OBAP-Atlanta
Chapter have partnered to sponsor
the free ACE Camps for Metro
Atlanta.
OBAP and a host of other
dedicated aviation organizations
volunteer to provide goods and
services.
Our Purpose
- To enhance, advance
and promote educational
opportunities in aviation
- To develop and sustain
a process for the on-going
mentoring of our youth
- To monitor the development
of aviation projects
- To protect the general
interest of our members

Why ACE Camps
The objective of the OBAP
ACE Camp Program is to offer
exposure of the aviation industry
to all young people ages 14
to 18 years old. All 30 students
from each Atlanta ACE Camp and
10 students from the Atlanta
Flight Line will take part in
the “Delta Dream Flight.”
The OBAP ACE Camp serves
as a vehicle to expose aviation
to young individuals selected
to attend and:
- To develop an awareness
of the role of aviation
in human history.
- To discuss the airplane
as a vehicle and identify
its parts and the principles
by which it flies.
- To encourage students
to explore career opportunities
in the field of aviation.
- To help students understand
the role of government as
it relates to aviation and
the overall socio-economic
benefits of aviation in
their communities and their
lives.
- To provide an introductory
flight for students where
they can experience firsthand
the principles of flight.
- To increase the number
of people of color and women
pilots in the commercial
aviation industry.
